| Esophageal acid (pH) testing | ||
Esophageal pH (acid) testing is the measurement of the level of acid in the esophagus with a small acid sensor which is temporarily placed into the esophagus. This test is performed at the hospital using specialized equipment. The small acid sensor will be placed in the esophagus by our physicians. You will wear a recording device for the next 2 days. You can resume your normal diet and activities. After 2 days you bring the equipment back to the hospital, and the information will be transferred into a special computer. Later, the information will be reviewed by our physicians, and you will be contacted with results in a few days.
