A recent National Cancer Institute report shows a decreasing rate of cancer deaths in the United States.  The decrease in colon cancer was particularly significant. 

Researchers credit early detection and new treatments for colon cancer as reasons for the drop in colon cancer rates.

Currently, the best test for early detection of colon cancer is a colonoscopy.
