| Colon Cancer Awareness Month | |
|
March is national colon cancer awareness month. Colon cancer is a common type of cancer in patients over age 50. Unfortunately, since colon cancers may cause no symptoms until they are large, patients may be developing colon cancer and not be aware. Therefore, physicians suggest everyone over age 50 get routine colon cancer screening. A colonoscopy is the best test to look for pre-cancerous colon polyps and colon cancer. In addition, during a colonoscopy colon polyps can be removed, and the risk of colon cancer can be greatly reduced. For more information see colon cancer screening. For information about direct access colonoscopy see direct access. Ask your family physician or call us (865) 483-4366 to discuss colon cancer screening. |
